MOVE Guides hosted its first industry event with Brynne Herbert, CEO and Founder of MOVE Guides, Chantel Rowe, Head of EMEA Tax, Payroll and Mobility at SocGen, and Kay Hall, GM EMEA at AIRINC, in a panel moderated by Rachel Savage, Web Editor at Management Today.
We had a great, interactive discussion that covered some of the most recurring issues that companies are facing when moving global talent around the world. As our panel agreed, global mobility is transforming faster than ever to stay ahead of major trends such as the adoption of cloud technology, new demographics and an increasingly global workforce. Brynne Herbert reiterated this these trends stating that, “global mobility today is about global talent and global revenue.”
Companies have shifted away from the idea of a traditional expatriate to an increasingly diverse global workforce that seeks opportunities for long and short-term assignments. That means that moving talent requires flexibility to suit the diversity of moves and employee types, so it's no longer about "one model fits all". Kay Hall emphasized this by highlighting AIRINC’s recent survey that found that companies are seeking ways to increase flexibility for assignees.
Chantel shared the benefits Societe Generale has achieved since shifting to the MOVE Guides’ platform when it comes to automating processes and paperwork. As a result, their HR teams are now able to invest the time they used to spend on manual administrative tasks in more strategic initiatives that improve employee satisfaction, and reduce costs overall.
Another key takeaway from the discussion is that global mobility is evolving into a strategic function within HR and the broader organization, and turning into a competitive differentiator to attract and retain talent. All panellists agreed that moving abroad has become the norm for many industries and professionals seek opportunities to move abroad to advance their career opportunities.
