Last week, MOVE Guides attended the annual FEM APAC Summit and EMMA Awards in Hong Kong. This was a unique opportunity for our team to engage with APAC’s leading global mobility thought-leaders and celebrate our EMMA nominations for Relocation Management Company of the Year and Most Innovative Use of Technology for Global Mobility.

There was no shortage of interesting discussions during the event. From stealth expats, family support, talent management and future trends, we left the day feeling enriched and eager to share findings with the wider MOVE Guides team.

During the summit, I also had the privilege of speaking with attendees about one of the hottest trends in global mobility and HR— the emergence of cloud technology. As the first to bring cloud technology to the market, MOVE Guides believes in the power of technology to transform the global movement of talent and help companies compete in the 21st century.

I began my discussion by sharing how technology has dramatically changed the way we live. Companies, such as Google, Amazon, Facebook or Twitter have revolutionized the way we engage, buy, access information and communicate. They have also changed the way that we work.

Today, enterprise software, such as Workday or SuccessFactors empower the 21st century organization with cloud-based software to manage their most important asset—employees. These HR platforms bring efficiency, flexibility and collaboration to HR teams like never before and are growing fast.

For example, Workday’s revenues grew by nearly 70% to more than $700m in 2014 and the company’s work force has grown to more than 5,000 people and it expects to exceed $1bn in revenues in 2016.

That said, amid the surge in HR technology platforms, there is one major gap – talent mobility. We believe this is the last mile of HR technology.

The demand for global mobility is dramatically increasing together with the level of complexity and costs associated with each employee move. That is why companies can no longer use manual and inefficient processes that hold them back from meeting their true global potential.

MOVE Guides believes that a fully integrated technology platform is the future of global mobility. This will create a single mobility view or integrated system that enables global mobility to be part of the overall human resources strategy ecosystem.
